Electronics: Buy A Laptop
Before you buy a laptop, its crucial that you sit down and decide what exactly you hope to do with the portable computer. This is not only for what you plan on doing in the near future, but a year or two down the road as well. The price for a laptop can be quite expensive on its own, and upgrading the components within the computer can be just as costly.
One feature I would demand on a computer if I were to buy a laptop is a DVD burner. Right now, theyre not really something that is found on everyones computer, but in a few years, they will be as common as the CD burner is now. Rather than backing up data on a small 800 MB CDR, a user can burn between four and nine GB of data onto a DVD, making the backup process a lot easier, since one DVD can hold multiple CDRs worth of data.

Another component youll want to focus your attention on is the video card. Oftentimes you can find reasonably priced laptops because they skimp on some accessories, such as the video card. If you plan on doing any gaming or graphic editing, youll need a video card that can handle the demanding graphical power of the latest video games and image editing software.
In addition, when you buy a laptop, you may want to consider buying an additional battery if youll be away from home a lot. This could be especially useful for the businessperson whos taking a long flight. If one battery happened to die half way through your work or viewing of a DVD movie, you could easily pop in the backup and continue right from where you left off.
